So, lately I've been ignoring Hollywood's sad attempt at reworking old stuff, (aka Remakes), and found myself wishing I could hang myself by the lack of creativity this generation beheld.

Nevertheless, nothing boiled my blood more than close-minded corporate idiots deciding that in order to milk more money from tweens ever since the dreaded High School Musical fiasco, they just up and say, "Why not remake Footloose...and have Disney-backed pretty boy, Zac Efron, the lead?"

For those who haven't been up to date, it is true. Production starts in 2009 and I've been slamming my head on the desk ever since.

Why am I so pissy about it? Because movies are supposed to be original, not carbon copies of cult classics. And what's worse, is that the younger generation is being fooled by this corporate trickery, hense changing the cultural future of their young charges. We're heading towards a cultural wasteland, and I'm not the only one who sees it.

There are many people out there, that are vehemently against the cheesy pop culture icons of the 2000's, like Hannah Montana, the Jonas Brothers and HSM, not to mention, the lack of good literature being produced on the silver screen, that being Twilight. What ties them all together is merely a guilty pleasure: the characters are all externally beautiful.
So, does that mean that beautiful people make up for the craphole of culture? With MTV and VH1 using shows that is based around lackluster and comical romances involving said shallow beauties, it only reaffirms the fact that culture really is going to Hell...and not the good kind.

I feel like going around the local movie theater when the movie comes out and prance around a sign that says, "Kevin Bacon's Footloose > Zac Efron's Footloose", just to piss off the twelve year olds going to see the movie just to drool and have an eyegasm over the pretty boy. Never the story, only the actor. How sad.

And so, I end this with a sincere hope that all this crap is merely a phase, like puberty, because culture these days really need to grow some kahunas big time.
